We are the NQ Flyfishers
We are a North Queensland based club with Members in Townsville, Ingham and the Whitsundays. The club has a current membership of about 30 but our membership is growing steadily, with a great group of anglers that enjoy getting out and about with mates and promoting fly fishing as a sport as well as a recreational pastime. We meet on the second and last Thursday evenings of each month from 7.30pm, fish as a Club once a month, and also enjoy regular fly casting practice with our very own FFI Certified Casting Instructors. On any given weekend you will be sure to see at least 1 or 2 of us out and about, fishing somewhere....
Here we go. Screaming and crawling into the 21st century. Our basic information, links to other interesting pages etc, the AFO Hinchinbrook Challenge and some photos will be kept here, but in this day and age of instant gratification we are striving to become more active on Social Media.
Look for us on Facebook - @nqflyfishers or "North Queensland Flyfishers"
Or on Instagram - @nqflyfishers or "NQ Flyfishers Incorporated"
Please make sure you check the calendar below so you don't miss out on anything throughout the year.
I'm ALWAYS on the lookout for stories and pics to keep social media sites moving, so if you have an interesting outing, some useful tips, techniques or a step by step for a favourite fly pattern, send them on through and I'll do my best to get them up ASAP. Please be mindful of pic sizes though and if you can reduce them to 1024x768 pixels that'd be fantastic, as they can be easily emailed and still edited without losing too much definition.
Please keep at me if I don't put something up straight away, I can get caught up with life sometimes.
Visitors and new members are always welcome!!
As a member club of ANSA Queensland we are proud to have put in place our NQFF Inc. Monitoring Plan for the local areas that we fish. For details of the ANSA QLD Monitoring program please make sure to visit http://www.ansaqld.com.au/monitoring-overview/. The ANSA Queensland website also has a number of documents developed as part of the monitoring program. Should you wish to tag fish in other parts of the State please make sure you adhere to any relevant Plans.
A pdf version of the document is located below. Remember. As members of the club let Bob and Dave know if you see anything in the document that you think can be improved on and we will work on updating it. The Plan is a working document, so will always be LIVE.
Hosts of the AFO Hinchinbrook Challenge
Thanks to all who participated and congratulations to the winners.
Great sponsors again this year, so make sure you head over to their web pages, check them out, and support them in any way you can. Even THANK YOU still goes a long way in this day and age.
Don't forget about your TOP TEN either. This year, 2019, Ward has taken the time to really flush out the rules so that we can eliminate confusion as best we can. The competition runs from our first club outing until the last fly tying night of the year, and has been well fought by the front runners, Bob, Brad and Ward, over the last couple of years.
